Participatory Budgeting neighborhood assemblies, where residents come together to brainstorm and share ideas for needed projects, are coming to you this fall (see info in above flyer).

In addition to the four neighborhood assemblies posted above, if you are a PTA, block association, or other local group interested in hosting a mobile neighborhood assembly, please contact Lisa Bloodgood at district33pb@gmail.com or 718-875-5200.

THE WEEK AHEAD

Tuesday, September 30 (6:30-8:00pm)
Community meeting re: Domino Sugar Factory redevelopment. Two Trees will be on hand to present details of construction time table and answer questions. At The Woods (48 South 4th Street).

Wednesday, October 1 (7:00pm)
94th Precinct Community Council meeting. At 122 Java Street.

Wednesday, October 1 (6:30pm)

Newtown Creek Community Advisory Group (CAG) meeting. At 776 Lorimer Street.

Sunday, October 5 (12:00-5:00pm)
NYC PTA Expo.  Produced by Town Square, the 2014 NYC PTA EXPO presents a fun and informative event with great resources, products, services and information for New York City PA and PTA groups (together “PTA”) while bringing together community members, educators, families, parents and city agencies under one roof. Complete with workshops led by education specialists, business leaders, and past PTA representatives offering advice and fundraising ideas to new PTA members, this expo bridges diverse PTA councils through network sharing and camaraderie. Workshop presenters include, author Jean Joachim, Neil Stevenson, Senior Staff Attorney of the Lawyers’ Alliance and more! All NYC PTAs are invited to attend. At P.S. 250 - George H. Lindsey Elementary School (108 Montrose Avenue).

Each week I highlight a Brooklyn band for my "Spin of the Week." This week I am spinning The Spring Standards.

Elle says, "One band, three drummers. The members of The Spring Standards are so in sync that the trio shares percussion duties in live shows, each with their own drum station. Their teamwork mastery makes sense: Heather Robb, James Cleare, and James Smith all met in high school, and they’ve been playing together on and off ever since."
