We are pleased to announce the publication of the new Community Forestry Guidebook - Effective Governance and Forest Management
From organizational governance, forest legislation, regulations and policies, government programs and funding, markets and pricing, to forest management and planning software, community forest organizations expend great effort to secure and adapt existing tools to fit their unique situations. In “The Community Forestry Guidebook II,” a focus is placed on the governance and forest management priorities identified by BCCFA members. In Part One, we present twelve chapters that examine some of the basics of community forest organizational governance and policy. In Part Two, we present seven chapters on various aspects of operational community forest management.   The new publication, available in electronic and limited print versions, was made possible through the financial support of Agriculture and Agri Food Canada’s Community Development Program. We are also grateful for the generous support from a foundation through the University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Forestry and Alex Fraser Research Forest. more information

Kevin Davie Retires as BCCFA President
Kevin Davie has tendered his resignation as President of the BCCFA. In a March conference call with the Board and staff of the BCCFA, Kevin explained that unfortunately he cannot afford the time that is required to be president of the BCCFA due to his new employment that has proven to be very demanding. Kevin thanked Jennifer Gunter for her work as the Executive Director particularly during the past year of transition and appreciated the directors for their contributions. The board accepted Kevin’s resignation with regrets and thanked him for his dedication and service to the BCCFA. Marc von der Gonna has been acclaimed as president and Grant Thompson has been elected to the position of Vice President until next AGM.
