Month of the Young Child

April marks “Month of the Young Child”, an annual celebration highlighting the needs of young children and their families, early learning programs and support services. To launch the festivities and promote early literacy, Acting State Superintendent Kang, Deputy Mayor Niles, Council Members Bonds, Grosso, Allen, Alexander and Nadeau, Team OSSE and other community and business leaders visited early learning centers across the District to participate in story time with our youngest learners.

MOYC is an extension of the annual celebration of Week of the Young Child sponsored by the National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) which honors early learning, young children, their teachers and families. MOYC is celebrated at early childhood programs across the US and beyond.
