God is always good to us at FACES Ministry, Ecuador. Most of all we are grateful to see success in our work with children in the situation of child labor. So far this year 80 children have been totally rescued from various types of child labor,
superseding the number from last year. This is accomplished using a variety of strategies that God has shown us. In August we held Family Day, teaching Biblical roles in families and evangelizing. Many parents and children prayed to receive Christ.
Another exciting strategy is our annual International Day Against Child Labor Event that focuses on drawing attention to the problem of child labor. This year’s event included a parade type march and a talent exhibition in the city municipal auditorium.
We give thanks that this year our New World Christian High School celebrated our 10th graduating class. It’s a real victory to see our seniors accomplishing the goal of high school graduation after years of struggles.
Our high school was awarded accreditation in a new modality called Accelerated Basic Education. The kids already behind in their studies due to child labor will now have the opportunity to finish three years of high school in one year! Thanks to our dedicated school director, Rocio Chuga’, our school is moving forward by leaps and bounds! She and other professors received awards for over 5-10 years of service at our high school.
We give thanks to Cross International Foundation for sponsoring New World High School every year since 2007.
Another of our strategies is supplying good nutrition. We are thankful for the community support we receive for our feeding center. This was just one donation of yogurt! We had enough to share with Agua Viva, another Church of God World Missions sister project in our valley where we serve.
Under the able direction of our administrator, Fabian Valle, FACES is stepping out to form a Network of Christian Foundations in the Quito and surrounding area. In the 1st meeting there were 11 foundations represented and excited to begin to work together to accomplish more as ONE.
One topic we have asked the group to tackle is the creation of an awareness campaign of the dangers of illegal immigration.
Here we are showing a documentary on how unaccompanied children are getting caught up in human trafficking.
Lastly we give thanks that FACES has been able to help many families with capital or products to reinitiate small businesses, enabling them to earn a respectable living and feed and educate their children, thus turning the tide on child labor as well as providing HOPE which is the best deterrent to illegal immigration.
