Camp Cards

2022 Camp Cards are Coming! Sign your unit up today for camp card sales! Camp Cards are a great way to fund your summer time activities. Scouts can earn camperships to major events, troops and pack can earn discounts for summer cam and adventure camp. The leaders guide will help guide you through the sale and provide important information for your unit. Download and share the Parents Guide to help your unit have a successful sale.. If you have a favorite business that you want featured on your card contact George Henington or Robert Sutton.

Family Friends of Scouting

The Family Friends of Scouting Campaign is a six-month campaign beginning in January and ending in June. During this time, volunteer presenters should visit every Scouting unit - sharing with them the resources that the Northwest Georgia Council provides to help support their unit. They will also share how participating in the FOS helps the Northwest Georgia Council reach more youth and positively impact lives. Download the Family FOS Leaders Guide for more information. To schedule an FOS presentation, fill out the commitment card and email it to your district executive. Bob Sutton or George Henington

Council Banquet

The Council Annual Banquet is a time to look back on the past year and recognize those Scouts, Scouters, and units that made 2021 a memorable year for Scouting in the Northwest Georgia Council.

2021 was a busy year with many programs and activities for our Council. As with all Scouting functions, many people are responsible for making the year a successful one for the youth in our seven counties.

Training

Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills is the required outdoor training for all Scoutmasters, assistant Scoutmasters, and other adult leaders. The skills taught are based on the outdoor skills found in The Boy Scout Handbook. The course focuses on skills that build confidence and competence in leaders conducting outdoor camping experiences. March 11-13 Register

BALOO ( Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) is the Cub Scout leader training required for any Cub Scout den or pack outdoor event, including pack camping overnighters and Webelos den overnighters. March 12-13 Registration

Greenbar Introduction to Leadership Skills or Troops. The Course presents the skills in a practical unique fun environment of an actual patrol. Youth Instruction presented to youth as the real patrol experience. The course is designed to train an entire patrol or train select youth leaders of a troop and supply them with resources and confidence to return to their unit and execute such training within their unit. Only 30 Youth Participants sports are available register today and save your Scouts spot.

Scout Campout and Race Experience at Talladega Superspeedway

Talladega Superspeedway as we host our Scout Campout during our NASCAR race weekend on April 22nd - 24th, 2022. Scout camping for the weekend, located in our exclusive, scout only campground - Scout campground is located behind turn two. Discounted ticket for both days to watch all three races in our scout only seating area. Special Talladega Superspeedway Scout Event Patch

•Additional opportunity to participate in a pre-race activity, opportunities include: Pledge of Allegiance, holding the giant American Flag, picture in victory lane, high-five tunnel, and more. More Information and to purchase tickets.

Shooting Sports Expo

The Shooting Sports Committee has planned this event as a fun activity for all Scout BSA and Venturers in the Northwest Georgia Council as an introduction to the exciting world of shooting sports using the great facilities we have at Camp Sidney Dew. Note that, even though we will be teaching the same skills and knowledge necessary to complete the shooting sports merit badges, we will not be certifying completion of any merit badge requirements. Cub Scout Adventure Camp at Shipwreck Island

Avast me hearties! Welcome, to the 2022 Northwest Georgia Council Cub Scout Adventure Camp – Shipwreck Island! Embark on a fun-filled journey that will be talked about for years to come. Shooting Sports, STEM, Handicraft and more await you as you explore CSD Shipwreck Island. Those of ye going for your Arrow of Light will embark on a grand adventure as you complete the Sas-walk program. Registration opens soon but for now Download the leaders guide. Scouts that wish to be part of the Adventure Camp Staff can download an application to apply.
