Council strategic direction
Have your say on the future of our local community
Our Macedon Ranges Shire Councillors are providing the community with the earliest ever opportunity to have a say in the direction we will take over the next four years.

You can have your say by completing an online survey or writing to the council about key issues. You have until Sunday 12th February to complete the survey.

There will also be a community workshop in the Kyneton Town Hall on Tuesday 28th February at 6 pm.

Of course there will be more opportunities to shape the strategy after a draft is released, but early input is important.

You can find details here.

Sustainable Living Festival
Saturday 4th March
We are very excited to announce that Kyneton Transition Hub will be at the Macedon Ranges Sustainable Living Festival in Woodend on Saturday 4th March. Riddells Creek Seed Savers group will also be joining us at our stand.

Come along and talk to us about how to be more sustainable in our local community. Perhaps you'd like to know more about wicking beds, compost tea, native bees or other edible gardening issues.

Hear all about how to save your own seeds and how you can join in with the Riddells Creek Seed Savers to have truly local seeds.

As Transition groups like ours are a community-based grass-roots approach to sustainability, we are also interested in your own sustainable actions. So if you're growing your own produce, preserving, recycling, repurposing or networking in our community we would love to hear about it.

Kyneton Community Garden
The year has started well for our regular group of volunteers at the community garden. The cooler than usual summer and occasional rain has reduced our focus on watering, although with wicking beds that's never a big problem.

We've got one wicking bed almost totally taken over by strawberries and with the addition of a beer trap we've been harvesting heaps of rosy sweet berries.

This year our workshops will run every Tuesday during May. We'll be covering composting, compost tea, mini hot houses, wicking beds and much more.

If you're new to Kyneton or would like to get into edible gardening we'd love to welcome you at the garden with some fresh produce and an opportunity to meet others, learn something new and have some fun in the sun.

Join us any Tuesday from 9.30 am (to about 11.30)
Workshops are on every Tuesday during May from 10 am

During school hours please check in at the school office first

For the latest news check out our website. facebook page or phone Julie (Community Garden Working Group) on 5422 3023. We’re happy to host you at times that suit you and provide you with information on wicking beds, compost tea, native bees, biochar, permaculture, gardening in Kyneton conditions and other topics.
Community Produce Swap
The Produce Swap Table at the Kyneton Farmers' Market is a great place to be. There are opportunities to welcome new people to Kyneton, lively conversations about sustainability, gardening and climate change, as well as a great variety of produce swapped.

Soon we will have local seed swapping in partnership with Riddells Creek Seed Savers group. We also have swaps of egg cartons, seedlings and cuttings.

Bring your produce along on the second Saturday of the month to the Kyneton Farmers’ Market or just drop in for a chat about what's going on around Kyneton and especially in our gardens. If you would like to help our volunteers engage with others that would be a great help.
