Dear Friends of Allison Rimm and Associates,
As we near the end of 2014, I find myself reflecting on a joyful year at work full of some exciting consulting projects, collaborations with outstanding colleagues, coaching engagements with extraordinary executives, and pro bono work for some worthy individuals and organizations. I am humbled and grateful for these opportunities.
The end of the year is feeling pretty welcome on a personal level. Recent months have been especially difficult for my family and we are looking forward to a fresh start in the new year. So, I've been finding it particularly amusing whenever my GPS triumphantly announces, "You Have Arrived!" at the end of every road trip. Read on for a reminder to stop and celebrate the little victories in daily life.
The Joy of Arriving: Affirmations from a GPS
In our busyness, we don't often pause to celebrate life's little successes.
But I've been enjoying getting regular reminders from, of all things, my GPS.
One of the challenges of life as a coach and consultant is that my work day often requires me to drive to unfamiliar places. While that can be a lot of fun, it can also be a bit unsettling. This year, I've made unprecedented use of my GPS and have been most grateful for that steady, reliable (mostly - make sure you don't run out of battery in unfamiliar territory, just saying!) electronic assistance finding my way around parts unknown. It's gotten even better now that I've tried out all the voices and found one who doesn't sound like she's scolding me every time she needs to do some recalculating.
Forbes: Why 'No' is the Most Powerful Word When It Comes to Advancing Your Career
Completely synergistic with our mindset at ARA, we are pleased to share this article by personal branding expert, William Arruda. As we've shared before, a well-placed no means saying yes to something else. William goes on to offer "6 Ds of No" to help you the next time you want to make some room in your life. That's 2 more "D's" than I've offered, I'm going to try the others myself! Read more.
Happy New Year!!

Here's wishing 2015 brings you peace,
prosperity, health, and joy!!
Cheers!
