Back to school and cooler weather always puts a smile on my face, and I hope you and your family are enjoying the start to this school year so far!

We've Moved! Foster Kinship recently moved to a new (and much improved) location at 4344 W Cheyenne Ave, N Las Vegas 89032, and we are excited to share it with you. We are east of the 95 off Cheyenne/Valley in the Cheyenne Valley Gateway business park.

Upcoming Events!

We have quite a few events coming up that I am excited to share with you all! All our events and programs are always free and open to anyone parenting a relative's child in Clark County.

Open House Happy Hour

Please join us for an open house happy hour on Friday, October 9th from 4-6 PM to celebrate our new location. We will have food and drinks, tours of the space and updates on all our programs and services, and some fun stuff for the kids to do.

Registration for our 4th Annual Fall Family Festival is open now. As in past years, we will offer a carnival atmoshere for the kids with lots of resources for adults- plus a box of non-perishable food for Thanksgiving and a gift card for a turkey. Kinship support groups are back! We are starting our Monday support groups back up at our new location, 4344 W Cheyenne Ave, N Las Vegas, 89032. Mark your calendars for Monday October 12th, Monday November 9th, and Monday December 14th. Dinner and childcare will be available. The meetings begin at 6 PM. You can register for them here.

New Programs

In addition to our support, advocacy and case management services, we are now offering kinship orientations for those who are working with Clark County Department of Family Services.

Kinship Orientation Sessions

Kinship Orientation Sessions for those who have a relative placed through the Department of Family Services are held twice a month:

  • The 1st Saturday of each month at 2:30 PM in the Red Rock Room at 701K N Pecos, 89101 (Child Haven Campus).
  • The 3rd Monday of each month at 6 PM in the Carson City Room at 121 MLK Blvd, 89106 (Central Campus).

These sessions are free and will provide information on the Kinship Care Road Map, the licensing process, child-only TANF, Foster Kinship enrollment sessions and community resources. Register here.

Kinship Care Road Map

The Kinship Care Road map is designed to give new kinship caregivers with Clark County, NV Department of Family Services a clear and simple overview of the decisions they have control over and provides basic information on financial and legal differences so they can make the best choice for their family at the right time. It also outlines the rights and responsibilities of working with the child welfare system and the court timelines. You can download a free copy here.
