:: Studio News :: February 2013 ::

Hello Elizabeth,

January was such a busy month – full of upgrades, back of house improvements, and basic chores – that I am super excited for February and the rest of the year to come.  I feel especially hopeful that I will have more time to dedicate to growing, experiencing, and creating art.
There is a lot to share this month, and I am equally excited about it all…

::  my new website and blog launched on January 30th ::

New Elizabeth Floyd Studio blog
Stop by my new online home and check out all the new features.

On this site, you will find:

:: Sylvia Maria Glesmann Floral Exhibition ::

Floral still-life paintings for peonies and marigolds
This year I am honored to have two of my paintings accepted into the Sylvia Maria Glesmann Floral Exhibition at the Salmagundi Club in NYC.  The show runs from Monday, February 25, to Thursday, March 28, 2013.  If you happen to be near 47 Fifth Avenue stop in and visit the exhibit.

:: I’m going to teach a still-life painting workshop ::
:: April 5, 6 & 7, 2013 ::
:: Lorton Workhouse Arts Center ::

Are you interested in taking a 3-day workshop, concentrating on capturing the natural beauty of still-life objects by working directly from life using oil paint?  If so, you’re in luck, because I am teaching one at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, VA this April.  The 3-day workshop will include demonstrations, exercises to see the big shapes, working from life, and a special slide-show lecture and reception at my house on the Friday evening.  I am looking forward to this teaching opportunity.
Registration is now open, sign up here, and search for "Elizabeth Floyd" in your web browser to find the listing or else scroll down the page...

:: A painting is heading down to San Antonio, TX ::

:: Salon International Exhibition at Greenhouse Gallery::

Again, I am honored to be part of such a competitive exhibition.  The exhibition runs from April 13 to May 3, 2013.

:: I am now offering Online Classes beginning in March ::

Inspired by a conversation with a friend, I have decided to offer online painting and color theory classes, designed to create a complete learning experience over a 4-week period.  All classes are experienced at your own pace, in your own home or studio, and on your computer.
The first class focuses on Painting Fundamentals and begins on March 7th, 2013.  The lesson plans are already set and I am excited to cover the basic design elements that help make a piece of art dynamic and expressive.   To find out more, please visit its website page

:: Special Offer to Subscribers ::

With the previous year being such a successful year with sales, this month I am implementing a price increase on all of my work and I want to reward you, my subscribers, for supporting my work by offering a discount on all of my Etsy listings.  Just enter this code, 2012SUBSCRIBER, to receive the original 2012 price level when purchasing an item {this includes note cards and original artwork}.  This offer is good until this Friday, February 15th, 2013.

I hope February is a good month for you and that you are able to take advantage of the season, no matter what is brings, snow or sunny days... We have been having unseasonably sunny days in the DC area and I am going to try to get ahead and prep my garden for the spring season...

Thanks for all your support,  I so appreciate it.

With warm regards,
