PT Ski Newsletter March 2016

The winter season seems to be disappearing in a blink of an eye. It seems like only yesterday that everyone was getting preoccupied about the lack of snow across the Alps over Christmas and New Year. Needless to say, the snow eventually arrived as it always does and the last two months have been a complete blur.  The skiing has been really good as I am sure our guests will attest. The pistes have been kept to their usual high standard and regular falls of snow have meant that the off piste has been excellent for much of the winter. Indeed, more snow is forecasted for later this week and at the weekend and it looks like conditions will be perfect for next week. If you are getting tired of the constant rain clouds which seem to be permanently entrenched over the UK then give us a call on 0207 736 5557 and next week you could be whizzing down pristine pistes and whooping up the powder in Klosters!

The Business Challenge
PT Ski were very proud to have been the organisers of the Business Challenge, a fundraiser for Skiing with Heroes. The weekend at the end of January saw 20 teams of 4 from the business community come out to Klosters to race not only against each other but also 5 teams of wounded veterans selected from the Charity’s previous programmes. On the first day, the teams had to ski as many km on the pistes as they could in the “SwH Marathon”, with the added complication that you could only score any given run once. On the second day there was a Giant Slalom where everyone got 2 attempts at attaining the fastest time.  I was very pleased to see the PT Ski sponsored veteran team getting silver medal in this part of the competition.

The event itself raised a staggering £175,000 and importantly all the participants got a chance to interact with the veterans both on and off the slopes.  They all came away from the weekend with a greater understanding of what the Charity is trying to achieve and a desire to stay involved with the Charity and the Business Challenge in future years.

PT Ski All Mountain
Over half term I managed to get a day out with the teens on their 3 day All Mountain course. We had 14 teens and 3 instructors and they got to ski some fabulous slopes. I joined them on their last day on the pretext of taking photographs and we had a splendid day skiing Gemeindeboden down to Serneus and then to the Madrisa and down to St Antonien. It was one of my best days of the winter! More information about future PT Ski All Mountain courses will appear on our website in the spring, and in the meantime our last one of the winter runs from 29-31 March. For more information call us on 0207 736 5557 or e-mail
Off Piste Weekend
I have just got back from our second off piste weekend of the winter and although it had not snowed for a few days conditions were still really good, with plenty of fresh snow for us to ski. Highlights included the Directissima twice on Friday morning, the MonchAlp on Saturday and the Fleming. The back of the Rinerhorn to Mühle for lunch on Thursday was also particularly memorable. A big thank you to our guide Bruno for finding such great snow for us all to ski! Our final off piste foray of the season is the Silvretta Ski Safari, a 4 day tour into the remote Silvretta region on the Swiss Austrian border, spending 3 nights in mountain huts. There is still space and call us now on 0207 736 5557 to get onto this amazing trip.
Winter 2016-17
We have already started getting a few enquiries for next winter, especially for New Year and half term. These popular times can get booked up quite quickly so it is definitely worth getting it sorted out now and then there is no need to worry about availability later on.  To get a personalised quote please call Sos or Beth on 0207 736 5557 or email
PT Ski are proud to be one of the lead sponsors for next week’s Amateur Inter Club Championships (AICC). The PT Ski banners will be adorning the GS and Super G courses as racers (including James PT!) from Mardens Club, DHO, Kandahar, SC Arlberg, Ladies Ski Club and others compete for silverware. Good luck James - let’s hope you bring some silverware home to Klosters!
