Broadway Youth Center Groundbreaking, School Supply Drives, and COVID-19 Childcare Resources

Dear Neighbor,

Last week I was thrilled to be at the groundbreaking for the new home of the Broadway Youth Center, at 1023 W. Irving Park Rd. It was inspiring to see the 12th District's tradition of openness and inclusivity continue with this exciting new facility for LGBTQI youth. I am truly grateful to have been a part of the group of community leaders and legislators who helped make this important project possible. Check out some pictures from the event below.

Additionally, in an effort to raise awareness about filling out the 2020 Census and help protect our neighbors from COVID-19, I distributed "Make It Count" masks to local schools in our community. Go to and fill out your census today if you haven't already done so - you have until September 30th!

Dining Out for Life Programming to Raise HIV Awareness and Support Local Restaurants

"DINING OUT FOR LIFE CHICAGO will take place September 24th 2020, dine in, order takeout or delivery from your favorite restaurants and donate to directly to TPAN to support our mission to serve people affected by HIV. This year we want to uplift the restaurant industry, so personal gifts to TPAN are especially important.

This September, we rally Chicagoans to join TPAN and Dining Out for Life Chicago co-Chairs Sean LewisAmy Lawless, and Candace Jordan in one of the most important meals you’ll have all year – DINING OUT FOR LIFE.

TPAN’s mission is to empower lives affected by HIV and health disparities through lifesaving health care and support for thousands of Chicagoans. We are an important doorway to care for LGBTQ individuals and people of color from across our city – reaching some of our most vulnerable, from homeless LGBTQ youth to older adults who are long-term survivors of HIV.

Sign up to join us! Be a DOFL Virtual Ambassador or donate to support our mission during the COVID-19 crisis! Chicago and our community are resilient. We will get through this together!"
