Uptown Schools Collaborative Town Hall, Flu Shot Drive-Up Event, Restaurant Worker Relief Fund, and more

Dear Neighbor,

Thank you to everyone who participated in our prescription drug takeback event over the weekend! We had a great turnout and had to empty the dropbox twice because so many neighbors responsibly disposed of their unused and/or expired medications! A special thanks to our fellow co-hosts: the Cook County Sheriff's Office, State Senator Sara Feigenholtz, Alderman Tom Tunney, and MWRD Commissioner Kimberly Neely Dubuclet. Check out some pictures from the event below:

Over the weekend my District Director Cameron Rich and I also stopped by to deliver some candy to the House of Good Shepherd Halloween party, organized by Kim Walz of the 46th Ward Democrats (can kids ever get enough candy at Halloween?!). And last night, I enjoyed participating in the annual meeting of the Gold Coast Neighbors Association. Great to see so many familiar faces and friends!

Statwide Grant Program for Restaurant Workers

A statewide program sponsored by the Illinois Restaurant Association that will award $500 grants for restaurant workers affected by COVID-19 launched this week. The fund is intended to help cover living expenses like rent, food, and utilities during the pandemic, according to a news release.

The grant program will prioritize applicants who have been diagnosed with COVID-19, are a caregiver for an immediate family member who has been diagnosed with the virus, and workers who are quarantined with a doctor’s note. Those who have been out of work for three weeks or more without unemployment benefits will also be prioritized. Applications and more details are available online.
