Early Voting Now Underway, Small Business Workshops for Women with DCEO, Prescription Drug Takeback Program and more

Dear Neighbor,

Happy October!

If you are like me and are voting by mail this year, remember you can submit your ballot at any post office or USPS collection box, or use the secure dropbox at the Loop Super Site downtown at 191 N. Clark Street. Starting October 14th and through Election Day on November 3rd, there will be dropboxes located in every ward in Chicago. To find early voting and dropbox locations near you, visit chicagoelections.gov/early-voting.

In case you missed it, the final Neighborhood Grounds Crew cleanup event of the year with East Lakeview Neighbors and the Chicago Cubs was this past Saturday. We covered a lot of ground this season despite the pandemic, and I am so proud of our community for showing up for service in one of the most challenging years to do so! Take a look at some of the highlights from this season's events below.

In this newsletter, you will find:

  • Information on upcoming small business workshops for women through the Illinois Dept. of Commerce and Economic Opportunity;
  • Chicago Public Schools programming for families navigating the challenges of remote learning;
  • Our Prescription Drug Takeback Program in partnership with the Cook County Sheriff's Office;
  • Registration information for the Gold Coast Neighbors Association 2020 Annual Meeting;
  • A new resource for renters aimed at curbing residential evictions called the Chicago COVID-19 Eviction Prevention Project; and
  • Safety guidance from the Illinois Dept. of Public Health on this year's Halloween Festivities

As always, if you have any general questions about services or specific COVID-19 guidelines, feel free to call our office at 773-348-8974; email us at info.staterepyoni@gmail.com; or visit coronavirus.illinois.gov. Also be sure to follow me on Facebook and Twitter for the most recent news and updates as we receive them.

Wishing you all the best - please stay safe and healthy.

Yours in service,
