New Project in Jerusalem.

The Saxum Foundation has launched a project for a new conference center that will be located outside of Jerusalem.

Named in honor of Blessed Álvaro del Portillo, the center will be open to Christian pilgrims as well as non-Christian visitors.  It will offer a wide and diverse array of activities that will help to facilitate a deeper encounter with Jesus Christ and Christian faith such as retreats, tours, conferences, and workshops.  Saxum Center hopes to be a place of spiritual refuge and an instrument of peace in a region of the world so often torn by disquiet and violence.
Granda was selected to prepare designs for several chapels that are part of this project, and we are pleased to reveal an approved proposal for the main chapel in this edition of our e-newsletter.  The overall concept was to create a design that is attuned to the art and architecture specific of the Christian Middle East.  Fabrication of the artwork and installations are scheduled for the first half of next year.

Oratory in Paris - New Tabernacle.

Our team has recently collaborated in furnishing an oratory in Paris.

In addition to a new tabernacle, our artisans crafted  candlesticks and an altar cross, sanctuary lamps, as well as a Via Crucis.

A simple wooden retablo with a painted Annunciation scene is complemented by a chapel-size silver-plated tabernacle with Adoration of the Shepherds relief on the door.  This particular tabernacle model is part of our permanent Catalogue Collection. All other elements were also crafted with a silver finish.

Granda Suite at the USCCB Meeting in Baltimore.

On November 15, 16, and 17 Granda opened a hospitality suite for visitors during the General Assembly of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

We presented examples of our metalwork: a tabernacle, chalices, a monstrance and pectoral crosses.  The exhibit was complemented by a display of vestments including a new Marian chasuble designed for Pope Francis’ visit to Philadelphia this past September.  We thank all the bishops, priests, religious and friends who stopped by to visit Granda and view our artwork.
