Monstrances and Adoration Chapels.

We are delighted to present a new portfolio featuring select monstrances from our catalogue collection. In addition to the monstrances, thabors, thuribles, and candlesticks, the portfolio also includes a couple of our recent projects for adoration chapels.

The famous Burgos Cathedral processional monstrance and spectacular polyptych shown at end of the presentation are one of the crowning achievements of the Granda workshop. Both were commissioned in the 1920’s by the Archbishop of Burgos. Their design and fabrication were completed under direction of Rev. Felix Granda, founder of our company.  Both the monstrance and the polyptych are crafted in metal incorporating silver, gold, bronze, ivory, and precious stones.

Custom Chalice.

Granda has been privileged to craft a custom chalice to commemorate the 10th anniversary of priestly ordination for a client in the Archdiocese of Washington, DC.

The collaboration between our designer, craftsman, and the client proved very fruitful, resulting in a graceful and elegant vessel. Here are a few comments from the priest who conceptualized and commissioned this chalice:

“The chalice and paten are the most important things in a priest’s life, since the Holy Mass is the most important moment and activity in a priest’s life.  It is with these instruments that God uses me, as a priest, to feed His children with the Holy Eucharist, the “bread for the journey” to our heavenly homeland.  My hope was to create a chalice which, in its physical beauty, would foster devotion to the Most Blessed Sacrament.  The enamel of the Crucifixion is the focal point of the ornamentation, the image that faces the priest as he offers the Holy Sacrifice.  The enamel of the Blessed Virgin is to the right of the Crucifix, as Our Lady stood by Our Lord in His self-offering.  Saint Joseph is on the other side, since he undoubtedly stood by the Blessed Virgin through his prayers and intercession from heaven during that moment.  And Saint Michael, our protector and heavenly guardian - and my own patron saint - stands by each of us in our spiritual combat.
I am delighted with the work of Granda, and grateful for the patience of its master craftsmen, as we worked through each detail of this chalice towards its completion.”
