Gott’s Notes

We adopted a new tagline this year: Empowering Through Authentic Engagement. Over the past couple of weeks, we have certainly seen this in action: the conversation with the ISS, the National History Day competition, the Storm the Citadel Trebuchet event, the Vex Robotics competition, Leap Day sessions, Odyssey of the Mind preparations, the Girls Basketball Team’s first playoff game, the SSEP launch, and development of Science Fair projects. This is just a sampling of all that goes on around here everyday. As we roll into spring, there will be multiple activities and opportunities for our students to put the typical academics into relevant contexts. It is definitely our goal here at PSA to live out our tagline so that students can be equipped to be successful members of our community and world.

Art News

Thank you to the musicians of the Charleston Symphony, Yuriy, Jan-Marie, Micah, and Norbet, for providing our students with a wonderful opportunity to experience the beauty of live music. 

Ink Meets Paper, a local design firm, will be hosting a few of our art students next Tuesday so that they can see what it looks like to run a professional design business. 

Second Annual Phoenix Run 5K

PSA’s National Honor Society will host the Second Annual Phoenix Run 5K on April 29th, 2017 at Wannamaker Park at 9 a.m. The registration fee is $30 which will include a t-shirt. Come out for a fun run, walk, or a lovely treat at the food truck.

Counseling News

The School Counseling Department is hosting a High School College Fair February 23 and 24th during lunch and Flex, 11:45-1:15 pm. Over 30 colleges will be on hand to meet with you and your student. Parents are invited to attend as well, upon checking in at the front desk. 

Job Shadow Day is set for March 15th! All 8th-11th grade students are invited to participate. Information packets and agreement forms were given out to students on Feb. 21st. A PDF of the packet will be available on the school website.

We will have a ROTC representative coming February 24th at 9:00 in the gym to talk to juniors about the potential ROTC scholarship.

Dominican Republic info

The Dominican Republic Service trip required informational meeting for parents and students will be held Wednesday, March 1st at 4:30 PM in Mrs. Hakamiun's room. Please let Mrs. Hakamiun know if you are unable to attend the meeting.(

7th and 8th Grade Science: 

There are some of Miss Craddock's 7th Grade students that still need to complete the tri-fold for their science fair project in order to be prepared for the fair on 3/24/17. These students need to complete and turn in their tri-folds by 3/15/17. If they do not, they will be standing at their table with their printed out lab reports and no display as the school community and judges walk around. If you are not sure your child has turned this in, please contact Miss Craddock.

PSA PCA Annual Live and Silent Auction

Our annual auction FUNdraiser will be held THIS SATURDAY, February 25th at 7 pm at the Blackbaud Atrium. Donated items are coming in daily and our Auction Committee is busy inventorying and adding them to our online listing. Check out a preview of some of the items up for bid 
(click here)! Parking is free for our auction, but there will also be a soccer game going on, so be sure to inform the parking attendants you are with PSA.
