Summers are always a good time to reflect. For most educators, our year ends in June and the new one begins after the 4th of July. As I look back on this past school year, I have a wonderful sense of peace. It wasn’t perfect. There were some trying days. But when all was said and done, it was a remarkable run. Now, we are preparing for what looks to be one of the best years ever. It will start with a new look inside the building with a new paint job and waxed floors. We are working on getting a couple of modular classrooms to help give us some growing room. These may not be quite ready by the time school starts but it won’t be long after before we can use them. We will have some new faces in the building and and some folks in new roles. With all of these things, there is excitement and enthusiasm in the prep for August.
Below you will find some information about the rest of the summer and some info for things revolving around the start of the year. Look for more details in mid July as all the plans are finalized for our new beginning. In the meantime, seize the day. I recently went to a memorial service for my uncle Alton. He passed away after a 5 year battle with prostate cancer. Celebrating his life and his servant heart was a strong reminder for me that today is important. It needs to be valued and lived fully in light of how precious each day is. Let’s not lose sight that we have it within us to make a difference today. Carpe diem!
(By the way, I will be out June 30 -July 8 and July 20 -30 for vacation)
