Dear Listeners,

We’d like you to meet Marc Rose, the newest member of the Re-Imagined Radio crew. Marc owns Fuse Audio Design, based in Portland, Oregon, and is a 40-year veteran in the sound and broadcasting field.

Not only is Marc a multiple award-winning sound designer and engineer, he also is a voice actor. So, he understands what it’s like to work on both sides of the microphone. And, because he works mostly remotely, he understands the challenges of producing long form narrative from multiple, distant sources. So when Re-Imagined Radio was faced with the challenge of remixing and producing multiple vocal, music, and sound effects recordings from the remotely-located, nine-member cast of Metropolitan Performing Arts for our upcoming episode of “The Immortal Sherlock Holmes,” we turned to Marc. His response: “Let’s go!”

In fact, he credits the Metropolitan Performing Arts cast with exceptional and unique vocal talent, adding that Executive Director of MPA-Vancouver and director of Sherlock Holmes, Barbara Richardson, was completely dialed in to what the exposition-heavy mystery needs: action listener's can hear. But what does that mean?

Marc gives the example of "hearing someone sit.” Their breathing changes as they prepare to sit and that layers the action and lends interest to the listener's experience. It is conversations like this where one can tell Marc Rose has been in this business for a long time. But, even after four decades of layering in sound effects, arranging, choreographing and multitasking and Rose says there is always something to learn and he delights in that.

The one thing that is more interesting than reading about Marc Rose is hearing his iconic sounding voice say hello to you himself. Please tap or click the button, Listen Now.

And before we forget, a very special thank you to Marc Rose for making "The Immortal Sherlock Holmes" sound oh-so-good!  Join us for this episode of Re-Imagined Radio and hear for yourself.

Coming Up Next

From this lineage Re-Imagined Radio crafted its own adaptation of the Holmesian legacy as The Immortal Sherlock Holmes. We retained the suspenseful conflict between Sherlock Holmes and Professor James Moriarity from the original Gillette-Doyle melodrama. And, we added some other changes. For example, all but four of Doyle's novels and stories featured John Watson as the narrator. Our celebration gives this role over to Mary Watson, wife of Dr. Watson.
