The 5 Points about the Kingdom of God, Day 3

“We are following Jesus and sharing His love by praying, serving and encouraging all people so they may be in a closer relationship with God.”

Matthew 13:24-36 || Kingdom Parables: 5 Points

The 5 Points about the Kingdom of God:

  1. God Created Good - Satan brings Sin

  2. Removing Sin Removes all who are - So God forgives sin to free all

    who will

  3. The Good are Gathered - The Bad are Burned

  4. The Kingdom Breaks through in You to Break Forth from You

  5. Give it All to Get it All

Day 3 - Point 3 Devotion

The Good are Gathered - The Bad are Burned (Matthew 13:30)

“30 Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters:

First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the

wheat and bring it into my barn.’ ”

Reflect for a moment on the tenth and final plague in Egypt (Exodus 12-

13). God instructed his people to cover the doorways of their home with the

blood of a lamb because He was going to consume the first born of everyone in

Egypt that did not receive that covering and forgiveness of sins from God.

Precisely how God will work in the final day of the Lord, we don’t know, but

in this parable Jesus portrays it to be similar. Jesus will send his workers to take

away all the sin left in the world and anyone in whom sin remains - anyone who

has not been covered by the forgiveness of the blood of Christ.

Then He will take all who know Him, love Him, and receive Him to be a part of

what He is doing in His eternal kingdom.

Jesus speaks more on that final day in Matthew chapter 24. Here are a few

3 As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately.

“Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your

coming and of the end of the age?”

6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed.

Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.

12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but

the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the

kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and

then the end will come.

30b all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming

on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. 31 And he will send his

angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds,

from one end of the heavens to the other.

42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will

come. (NIV)

I think the most important piece is in the last verse (v.42).

Question: What does it mean to you to keep watch and be ready for that coming

day? Are you ready? Are the people you know and care about ready?
