Lord we come to you as we have been called in 1 Timothy 2:1-6, 8
“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people — for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time. ... Therefore, I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing.”
We ask Lord that you please be in our midst as we come together as the Body of Christ to lift up our country and its leaders. Please protect our nation from the division that challenges our ability to protect our country, community, and world around us.
We pray that you would work in the hearts of world leaders and incline them toward peace. We pray for the decision makers and ask they realize the choices they make will affect so many, as they work through diplomacy, and prepare for the possibility of war. We ask, God, that an alternative to war could be found and that you would move the hearts of world leaders toward peace. We ask you Lord to defend the vulnerable and voiceless. Lord many innocent lives will be affected by what happens over next few days, weeks, months and years, be with them all Lord.
Lord as we reflect upon Psalm 91:1-2, “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’” We lift to you the members of our military and the militaries around the world who have been called up in preparation for this possible coming battle. We pray also Lord for their families as they await news of what is ahead for their loved ones. We pray that you would protect them.
Lord we ask that you continue to guide and direct and that you would be honored and glorified always. Amen.
