A Note from David and Debbie Baker

Debbie and I are humbled and filled with gratitude for the plethora of cards, well wishes and prayers we receive from Carrollton Church! I told Debbie I have witnessed miracles that come from God through the prayers of the Carrollton Church people. Thank you for keeping Debbie and me on the prayer chain. I read the cards to Debbie and remember you and the times we shared in worship or meetings or office drop ins. I thank your Pastor Kimberly for her ministry to Debbie and me. She prayed me through one night when I felt my soul was in a dark place. I am forever thankful for Kimberly in our lives and for the pastoral oversight and spiritual depth that she shares with you all. Our love crosses the miles between us.  David and Debbie Baker

Mission News

We received a nice note from Ken and Kathy Keyes thanking us for all of our prayers and gifts, and a special thank you for the extra gift we gave the towards their overseas trip. Ken helps with translating the Bible into different languages.   He was able to visit almost all of the people he hoped to see and had some pretty deep interactions with several.  One of the translators from a remote village came to see Ken and they had several uninterrupted and well focused work sessions.

We, also, received a thank you from Larry and Angie Overholt for our support of their ministry and various projects around Choluteca, Honduras.  Technology has enabled them to work from the US.  Angie works with the Home Health Care teams and the nursing high school.  She, also, works with the sponsorship program of which we have sponsored one nursing student for two years.  They have a 4-H team which is mentoring and encouraging children to stay in school, even during distance learning.
The newsletter from the Urban Mission brought exciting news!  On October 26th, they received word that their organization would assume ownership of Martha Manor, a beautiful 22-bed facility, just down the street from their church.  It’s turn-key and will be used to help women heal, recover, and thrive in a safe and welcoming environment.  The Urban Mission is always looking for volunteers if any of you would like to help. Our zoom time with Devin and Tia Tharp of Bright Side Youth Ranch was inspiring!  This year between March and the first week in November they were able to hold 331 one on one sessions with youth and their mentors.  Each young person comes once a week for eight weeks. These are young people with various kinds and layers of problems in their lives.   Bright Side now has eight horses and twelve mentors with more adults wanting to mentor.  This is a huge blessing because more youth can be reached.  A Christian curriculum is used and mentors are screened before being accepted into their program.  Since some youth need more than eight weeks of counseling, they will be starting a new curriculum with those who need to return to the ranch.  Another horse will join the herd this fall, also.  They asked us to pray about a grant they have applied for that they will use for marketing.  Devin and Tia thanked our church for the support we give them monthly and for the extra money we have been able to donate.

Justified Youth Group
