Following yesterday's alert promoting Hamlin Fistula UK's attempt to raise funds through the Big Give Christmas Challenge, Hospice Ethiopia (HE) have contacted us to say that they are also using the Big Give Christmas Challenge to try to raise £8,000 to enable them to provide a range of standardised palliative care courses for use by different health care professionals in Ethiopia.
Any donations, up to a total value of £4,000, will be matched so, to reach the £8,000 target, they're looking for £4,000 in donations.
With five days to go they've so far managed to raise about £3,000, which has been matched to give a total of £6,000.

The following Ethiopia related, fully matched, fund raising is also being carried out via this year's Big Give Christmas Challenge:

The Ethiopian Education Foundation are trying to raise £52,000 to enable them to expand their education programme into the Gambella region of Ethiopia. Any donations, up to a total value of £26,000, will be matched so, to reach the £52,000 target, they're looking for £26,000 in donations.
With five days to go they've so far managed to raise about £18,000, which has been matched to give a total of £36,000.

PovertySwap Limited are trying to raise £8,000 to enable them to help re-establish economically stronger families, restore hope, dignity and sustainable stability in vulnerable communities through grants, workshops and training. Any donations, up to a total value of £4,000, will be matched so, to reach the £8,000 target, they're looking for £4,000 in donations.
With five days to go they've so far managed to raise about £1,700, which has been matched to give a total of £3,400.

Together We Learn are trying to raise £12,000 to enable them to help girls to be able to go to school confidently so that they can achieve their full academic potential. Any donations, up to a total value of £6,000, will be matched so, to reach the £12,000 target, they're looking for £6,000 in donations.
With five days to go they've so far managed to raise about £4,000, which has been matched to give a total of £8,000.

Womankind Worldwide, with Ethiopian partner Siiqqee, are trying to raise £40,000 to enable them to establish more of their women-led cooperatives as a space for women to gain financial independence, new skills and increased confidence and status in the community. Any donations, up to a total value of £20,000, will be matched so, to reach the £40,000 target, they're looking for £20,000 in donations.
With five days to go they've so far managed to raise about £8,700, which has been matched to give a total of £17,400.

Send a Cow are trying to raise £75,000 to enable them to show 4,052 families in Ethiopia ways to adapt to the effects of climate change. Any donations, up to a total value of £37,500, will be matched so, to reach the £75,000 target, they're looking for £37,500 in donations.
With five days to go they've so far managed to raise about £34,500, which has been matched to give a total of £69,000.

The Bees for Development Trust are trying to raise £100,000 to enable them to grow beekeeping skills and knowledge to benefit more than one thousand people in Ethiopia. Any donations, up to a total value of £50,000, will be matched so, to reach the £100,000 target, they're looking for £50,000 in donations.
With five days to go they've so far managed to raise about £17,800, which has been matched to give a total of £35,600.

In addition the following Ethiopia related, partially matched, fund raising is also being carried out:

The Lifebox Foundation are trying to raise £11,500 to enable them to protect patients and healthcare workers from infection after surgery. 15% of maternal deaths in Ethiopia are due to infections and complications after C-sections. Any donations, up to a total value of £2,000, will be matched so, to reach the £11,500 target, they're looking for £9,500 in donations.
With five days to go they've so far managed to raise about £300, which has been matched to give a total of £600.

HOPE International Development Agency are trying to raise £29,500 to enable them to provide clean water to 1,176 people in Garadida, Ethiopia, plus a local school & health post. Any donations, up to a total value of £5,000, will be matched so, to reach the £29,500 target, they're looking for £24,500 in donations.
With five days to go they've so far managed to raise about £1,850, which has been matched to give a total of £3,700.

Project Harar are trying to raise £80,000 to enable them to provide vital life-changing treatment for children born with a cleft lip and palate in the poorest and most remote areas of Ethiopia. Any donations, up to a total value of £15,000, will be matched so, to reach the £80,000 target, they're looking for £65,000 in donations.
With five days to go they've so far managed to raise about £17,000, which has been matched to give a total of £32,000 (no matched funding remaining).

Maternity Worldwide are trying to raise £20,100 to enable them to provide safe childbirth in rural Ethiopia, Uganda and Malawi. Any donations, up to a total value of £2,000, will be matched so, to reach the £20,100 target, they're looking for £18,100 in donations.
With five days to go they've so far managed to raise about £3,200, which has been matched to give a total of £5,200 (no matched funding remaining).

And finally the successes - some charities have already met their targets, though I'm sure that extra donations would be gratefully received:
