Welcome to the February edition of ENIL’s Newsletter!

In it you will find  a report by Ines Bulic, ENIL Policy Officer, from a seminar on deinstitutionalisation in Nicosia, Cyprus.

Cyprus Seminar Calls for Action on Deinstitutitonalisation

On 27 January, ENIL’s Policy Officer Ines Bulic took part in a seminar on deinstitutionalisation in Nicosia, Cyprus, as part of ENIL’s involvement in the European Expert Group on the Transition from Institutional to Community-based Care (EEG). Read about the event here.

CIL Serbia on a Study Visit to London, UK

Last year, ENIL assisted CIL Serbia in organizing a study visit to London. The visit (3-7 July) was part of the project “Strengthening political participation of persons with disabilities in the Republic of Serbia”. It was facilitated by Disability Rights UK (DRUK) and ENIL.

Miro Griffiths at the Council of Europe – on Disability Rights Activism

On 2nd February, the Council of Europe hosted an hour long session on its Facebook platform to discuss a diverse range of topics pertaining to disablement, activism and policy development. You can find the whole transcript in this article.

Demonstration to Call for a Strong European Accessibility Act

Come and join ENIL who will demonstrate with the European Disability Forum (EDF) at the European Parliament in Brussels on 6th March to raise awareness on the European Accessibility Act and to ask the Internal Market Committee of the European Parliament to adopt a more ambitious position on this important legislative proposal.
