This Week at the HFM Saturday is Kids' Day at the Hingham Farmers Market. Always a fun day for kids of all ages, come early and play late with games, face painting and lots of fun for everyone.
Last week, officially proclaimed Hingham Farmers Market Day in Hingham, was a banner success for everyone. Statistically the second highest attendance day at this year's market, vendors were thrilled with business.
And congratulations to Hingham resident Lee Forker, winner of
this year's Billy Bucks Raffle. No Local Peaches in 2016 A sad story, but one that we all have to come to grips with . . . much the entire Northeast peach crop was wiped out due to the spell of warm weather in February which was followed by a severe cold snap. We can dream.

Opening the Market
Hingham Selectman Paul Gannon rang the bell to open the August 13 market AND to officially mark Hingham Farmers Market Day. Now in it's 40th season, the HFM is one of the oldest and most successful markets in Massachusetts - a place we can all be very proud to call ours. Below, the editor is a sucker for fresh tomatoes of any kind: heirlooms from Second Nature and cherries from them as well; even the lowly but colorful carrot is nearly sold out by market's end.
More Market Seen on HFM Day
It was a fun time at HFM Day last week. Olivia (5), Harper (2) and mom Katherine Busey (Marshfield Hills); Kylie and William Tollefsen (Hingham) with kids Havana and Wallace; Richard and Sylvia Hendrick with Valerie (Weymouth).
George Loring walks around the HFM like he owns it - but that's okay, in some instances he does "own" various Hingham high spots.
