There are eight verses to train the mind, and it offers essential practice to cultivate an awakening mind on compassion, wisdom, and love. The goal of this practice is to transform our radical thoughts, attitudes, and habits.

Habitually, we tend to cherish the welfare of ourselves at the expense of others. However, the mind training teaching challenges us to reverse this process. This practice allows us to develop a deep understanding of others as your true friends and a recognition that our real enemy lies inside of ourselves, not outside. We discuss and meditate on two verses each week.

Week 1: Cultivating a sense of holding all beings and develop an attitude that enables you to regard other sentient beings as precious so you can feel more appreciative of the people around you and being more present in the moments.

Week 2: Discuss the essence of the practice of loving-kindness is free from negative emotions that hinder one's daily life.

Week 3: Learn how to be patient when others provoke you for no reason, but in fact, we should view them as our spiritual teachers.

Week 4: Practice "giving and taking" (Tonglen), which is a powerful technique to visualize giving and taking by exchanging ourselves with others. In the end, we explore how the eight mundane concerns are attitudes that tend to dominate our daily lives.

Outcome: After the eight-week course, the participant will be more compassionate and mindful, which will help them to handle their complicated daily chores with ease.
