I only JUST put away my Christmas tree. Not because I’m behind schedule, but because we tend to keep that guy around until mid-January. But by then the ornaments marking milestones of childhood are long gone and in its place is a tribute to my daughter, Macie.

Macie is our youngest of three. She’s the quiet one of the bunch, who gets lost in her own imagination. She’s the sister of a special needs kid, and when her brother gets in a mood sometimes she just gets lost. And, she has a January birthday, which is all too easy to lose in the post-holiday shuffle.

So we’ve created some untraditional traditions just for her. My favorite untraditional tradition celebrates her birthday by transforming the Christmas Tree into Macie’s Birthday Tree. Learn more about our Birthday Tree tradition on our blog.

Michelle Sanner and Family

At Abram's Nation, we always say that the families are indeed the heart of this company. Every month, we will bring you stories about our families and how The Safety Sleeper has improved their lives.

January's featured family member is Michelle Sanner. Her son Noah has Angelman Syndrome, Epilepsy, Autism, and several other diagnoses. We watched as Michelle and Noah tracked their Safety Sleeper delivery via Facebook last month. It was thrilling to follow their excitement! Now that they have spent some time adjusting to their new addition, we sat down for a conversation with Michelle to learn more about her family and life after diagnosis.

Read more about Michelle, Noah, and their journey to The Safety Sleeper here.

Our friends at Reagan's Journey are on a mission to make life better for children with special needs. One of the primary means of improving lives is with their FREE Pediatric Equipment and Supply Closet. In 2020 alone, this awesome organization not only met but exceeded their goal and sent out over $500,000 worth of pediatric equipment and medical supplies! Families and therapists can view their inventory by joining the private RJ Closet Facebook group, linked here.

Located at 140 Pennsylvania Avenue, Oakmont, PA 15139, Reagan's Journey provides support and equipment to families in southwestern PA and beyond. Equipment and supplies are reserved when a closet appointment is scheduled by following this link.

In addition to services on Facebook, Reagan's Journey will be launching their Video Series. Since meeting in person or large group settings isn't an option right now due to the pandemic, these virtual video services will be full of great resources and tips to stay connected. You can follow them on their website, FacebookInstagram, and YouTube to stay up to date on these videos.

Looking for ways to help this great cause? Join us for the first ever Virtual Fundraising Banquet on May 13, 2021 to show your support! The funds from this banquet will go towards Reagan's Journey's main goal of making life better for children with special needs. Help this incredible organization reach more families impacted by disabilities with your donation.

Is there a local organization in your area with a similar mission to Reagan's Journey? If so, we'd love to get connected! Respond to this email with information about your local organization and we'll add them to our list of resources for families.
