With guidance, prayer, and hard work my life has come full circle. At the beginning of the 2018-19 school year, I accepted the job of Graduate Support Director at Seattle Nativity School. It is an honor and a privilege to work alongside Fr. McDougall, S.J., as we expand the Graduate Support Program. Being able to pour into these children’s lives like many have done for me since attending St. Andrew Nativity School is very special to me.
As I reflect on my time as a student of St. Andrew Nativity School, I recall a time of fun, growing pains, new experiences, and learning what it meant to live a life that resembled the Jesuit characteristics. Open to Growth, Religious, Committed to Justice, Intellectually Competent, Loving, and being Grateful were the building blocks in shaping who I am today and aspire to become: a person for others. St. Andrew Nativity School became my safe place where I was able to practice my faith, receive a challenging education, and believe in myself. Before attending St. Andrew Nativity School, public speaking was a terrifying experience. While at Nativity, my confidence grew and I faced my fears. From becoming a tour guide, participating in the annual luncheon, serving Mass, a sense of personal confidence replaced my deepest fears. Personal confidence shaped all areas of my life both socially and academically leading to my admission to St. Mary’s Academy.
Every year at St. Mary’s Academy was wonderful. Every day presented a new opportunity to expand my thinking and learn how to better serve our world. Saint Mary’s was more than a school to me, but a second home. Being part of a school full of legacy, academia, love, honor, and tradition brings me joy.
The years of college preparatory work that began at Nativity prepared me for the steps to St. Mary's Academy and Seattle Pacific University. Upon entering SPU, I was not afraid to step up to the challenge. Graduating with a BA in Psychology and a Minor in Reconciliation Studies fulfilled one of my dreams. Now I can help our Seattle Nativity School students pursue their dreams.

Jada is looking forward to graduation in June 2019. While attending Nativity, Jada enjoyed photography, painting, and playing volleyball. She has been working very hard in her classes and has come to enjoy some of her more complex courses. She summarized, “While attending Nativity, I learned how to find missing variables in math, velocity in science, and nouns and adjectives in ELA. Lastly, I learned about the Civil War in social studies.” Jada has utilized her time well in middle school and is excited to see what high school has in store. “What I am looking forward to the most next year is meeting new people and experiencing a new environment at Eastside Catholic School.”
