Dear <<First Name>>,
Spring is here, a time of
much hope, optimism and growth. Speaking of growth, last week I caught up with my two sons, who are both officially well over six feet tall! Joshua (left) and Jonathan (right) were playing in a basketball tournament right here in NYC. Josh was home from college on Spring break. This was quite nostalgic as I recalled sitting through ALL of those middle school and high school basketball games with my husband and parents as part of the fan club. It still is a thrill to watch them play and then go out for dinner with my guys.
Many big projects are blossoming at Soaringwords including the birth of my first book: SOARING Into Strength. The Positive Science Approach to Help Children Heal
. We are also building out our Board of Directors and looking for individuals who want to be part of this exciting inflection point in Soaringwords' growth. Send me an email if you are interested or you know of qualified candidates.
Wishing you and your family a radiant Spring.

National Day of Service
Soaringwords led a riveting team-building pro-social experience in Washington D.C. for Accenture's National Day of Service for the fourth year in a row. In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. whose adage, "everyone can be great because everyone can serve" we led 150 dazzling and enthusiastic Accenture employees, their families and KIPP students. Together everyone decorated SoaringQuilts® and SoaringPillows® for 100 patients in Children’s National Medical Center, one of our partner hospitals. Each participant also created a colorful and creative SoaringSuperhero message and artwork imbued with character strengths and super powers to encourage patients and families to “Never give up!” The next morning, an Accenture delegation hand-delivered quilts and pillows to the children and families. Thank you to Accenture team captains Karen Selph, Scott Selby and Michelle Lanier for helping us organize this fantastic event. More Photos
We started the countdown to attend the movie JOY when Lisa first met her son, Robert Miranne,
when he was the emcee at a charity dinner honoring one of Soaringwords' supporters. Five weeks later, we saw the movie, the real-life story about a fearless inventor/mom whose resiliency and creativity inspired her to create products to make women's lives easier. Lisa even saw the movie twice and then met Joy at a celebrity appearance at the Container Store. Soaringwords is moving ahead to pitch its amazing SoaringQuilts
® and SoaringPillows
® to Home Shopping Network (HSN) to inspire millions of viewers to have an incredible experience decorating a quilt and pillow with family and friends. In keeping with Soaringwords' mission to embrace hospitalized children and families through positive health and healing approaches, for each purchase Soaringwords will donate a pillow to a hospitalized child. If you know anyone at HSN, give us a call. We are creating the launch video and gearing up to make our debut later this year.
Volunteers for Good
We love our New York Life volunteers! Every month they come together for a couple of hours to inspire hospitalized children to "Never give up!"
In honor of Valentine's Day employees decorated 100 heart-shape SoaringPillows
® to donate to hospitalized children. In March, they decorated 100 SoaringDreamBoxes
because when patients are in the hospital they often don’t have a place to store their belongings. Each box was decorated with a unique colorful theme to brighten up a hospitalized child’s room. Participants had lots of laughs as they created SoaringHaikus to put inside of each DreamBox. Thanks to our team-leads Yuk-Ying Chin, Celena Thorne and Nina Deal who make it all so enjoyable and easy for everyone to make a big difference! Also a big thank you to Soaringwords' volunteers Marina Ramiro and Sivan Lebovich who made every single employee volunteer feel energized and loved. More Photos

SoaringStar - Eszter Boross
Thanks to the creativity, passion and significant contributions from incredible volunteers, Board members and staff, Soaringwords has been able to grow and flourish. We wanted to profile one of our fabulous new volunteers.
Eszter Boross is one of the most positive people we've ever met. We bonded over SoaringSuperhero® puppets at the Flourishing Center's holiday party where Eszter just received her Certificate in Positive Psychology (CAPP). A professional coach and human resources expert, she has made valuable contributions to the 2016 Soaringwords' Board of Directors Recruitment initiative as well as helping develop innovative new "pay-it-forward" curricula for hospitalized children and school children. Synchronicity moment: Eszter's husband works at Cisco where Soaringwords offices are located! She hails from Hungary and is expecting her first child in May.

Take Your Soul to Work by Dr. Erica Brown (Simon & Schuster). This book is a sparkling drink of water for leaders yearning to add meaning and purpose to their lives rather than simply accumulate more accolades and awards. Dr. Brown weaves inspiring stories from the greatest leaders of all time with thought-provoking questions and challenges. There are 365 daily readings to help you "live your most important questions." Whether you lead a company, a family or just want to lead yourself to be your best self, the spiritual life calls us to lead and serve others with tenderness and generosity. Spiritual leadership thrives on attentive listening, compassion, optimism and hope. It requires an understanding that humility is more important than ego.
On Thursday April 28 millions of children will be cutting school to hang out at their parents’ offices. Soaringwords is organizing Take Your Child to Work Day events for corporate supporters around the country. Since hospitalized children can’t participate in the fun, the SoaringQuilts® and SoaringPillows® decorated with inspirational messages and artwork are donated to hospitalized kids to make them feel loved and supported.
