U3A Port Phillip - Keeping you Informed, Educated and Entertained
Term 4 at U3APP is off to a tremendous start, with a strong take up of available Online Courses and Events. But it's not too late to join in the fun and enjoy a new Class; click on this 'Welcome Back To School' button to check out our Course Guide and available Classes.
Those unable to join us on Zoom will no doubt be looking forward to a time when we can meet up together once again in a COVID-Safe environment. We're doing everything we possibly can to ensure this happens: WHEN it can and HOW it can. But one thing's for sure - we know our Members appreciate that here at U3APP, our Committee of Management and all our amazing Volunteers have done everything in their power to ensure the continuation of Classes while still maintaining a strong connection with all our Members.
What Might 2021 Look Like With U3APP?
Last Friday, the Tutors had a meeting to look at the proposed choices for delivering courses in 2021, both until and after we can resume the use of our premises. They were enthusiastic about the range of choices - online and emails and face-to-face and hybrid (both online and face-to-face simultaneously) and outdoors - and are now planning their approach for their 2021 courses. Look out for the Term 1 course guide later in November.
The Working Group also summarised to the Tutors how we plan to make our face-to-face courses COVID Safe. The plan, which is called Conditions of Entry, has been documented, approved by the Committee of Management and submitted to the City of Port Phillip, the owner of the premises. It is based on State Government and CoPP requirements and will be reviewed whenever the requirements change. The Conditions of Entry will be sent to each of you in the coming week - look out for it in your inbox.
Spotlight On! Bev Fryer & Lois Best
Office Coordinators Extraordinaire
We're sure all our Members will have had reason to visit the Office at Mary Kehoe, back in the day when our lives weren't ruled by Covid-19 and the ensuing restrictions to keep us safe. You will no doubt remember the efficiency and helpfulness of all the Office Volunteers who gave, and still give up their time to help Members with a wide range of enquiries and pleas for assistance.
Bev Fryer and Lois Best are the Office Coordinators and they work with a large team of Volunteers to ensure the smooth running of U3APP especially during Covid-19. Bev has kindly written up this week's Spotlight On! segment and you can read it by clicking on this 'Hands Up To Volunteer' button.
Displaying Zoom to a large screen TV
by Kevin English & Denis Mouy
Do you attend one of our online Zoom classes and find the screen on your device is a bit small, especially for an exercise class or when watching a video in your class? Would like to see it on your bigger tv screen?

You join your Zoom class on your device, but you can then move somewhere else and watch your class on your TV. Remember that you will only be seen or heard by others in the class if you return to being in front of your device.
There are two broad ways to connect your device to your TV: via a cable or via wireless. For those of you with a technical bent, or access to someone with a technical bent, you may like to find our how to do so by looking at the instructions on our Website.
