Unfortunately, several of the parking permits issued to us courtesy of the City of Port Phillip have gone missing.  We appeal to all of you to look in your bags/pockets/cars in case you have at some stage simply forgotten to bring one back to the Office.

If returning a borrowed permit in wet weather or after the Office has closed, it’s OK to ‘post’ it into the letterbox near the front gate at MKC:  a volunteer will unlock the box next day, retrieve the permit and check it in for you.  But DO NOT slide it under the front door, as any of several other groups using the house might take it for their own use.

The new COVID restrictions mean vaccinations are no longer mandated for Community Centres, like U3APP.  Therefore the Committee of Management has decided, unanimously, that the current U3APP policy that requires members to be vaccinated to attend face to face classes or events is no longer necessary. This is in line with both the current Victorian DHHS and CoPP restrictions. READ MORE

French Impressionism revisited April U3APP Saturday Seminar

Those who tuned into U3A Port Phillip seminar on 23 April were rewarded by another brilliant presentation by Dr Michael Adcock. Michael’s erudition and his enthusiasm for the work of the French impressionists was captivating.

If you missed the April Saturday Seminar you can read Pam Caven's report HERE and view a recording of the session HERE.

Interview April 2022
Jenny Hunter joined U3APP in 2005 and soon became one of the original ‘Carbon Cops’. With no-nonsense bravura she assisted with consideration of environmental sustainability across activities and services in the City of Port Phillip.
Prior to this, Jenny had a long and successful career as a theatre nurse. This occupation saw her working for a famous neurosurgeon in London, then improving operating theatres in Cabrini, Masada, and East Melbourne hospitals before she set about designing better systems for Spotless Laundry in Brunswick.
Lured by her love of travel, Jenny spent fifteen months in Vietnam helping run provincial hospitals during the war, which unluckily exposed her to some effects of Agent Orange.
During her working life, Jenny studied Arts at Chisholm Institute, and then later Library and Information systems at Melbourne University. Eventually, through U3A, French, Shakespeare, petanque, the Friday film and painting fulfilled her thirst for more knowledge.
Also for Jenny, there is the garden.
