advice for members

We are currently seeing a surge of COVID-19 in the community, with a rising number of cases and increased pressure on our hospital system. The Chief Health Officer, Paul Kelly, recently made a statement in which he recommended that everyone:

  • have third and, if eligible, fourth doses of COVID vaccines
  • wear masks outside the home in crowded, indoor environments, including on public transport
  • follow good hygiene practices and physically distance where possible
  • test if you have any symptoms and stay home if you have COVID-19.

The Chief Health Officer's statement can be found here.

In light of the current COVID-19 surge and the Chief Health Officer's advice, the Committee of Management issues the following updated guidance to members:

  • The Committee of Management strongly recommends that members wear masks when attending face-to-face classes or activities.
           -  Best masks are N95, KN95 and P2 masks.
           -  Cloth and surgical masks are only 25% effective.
  • Please do not attend classes or activities if you have any cold, flu, fever, cough, shortness of breath, or sore throat even if you have tested negative for COVID.
  • Continue to maintain good hygiene practices and physically distance where possible.
  • Ensure your vaccinations are up to date ie have your 4th vaccination dose

If members have any concerns about attending face-to-face classes, please discuss these initially with your tutor. If, after discussion with class members, tutors wish to make changes to their class arrangements they should email the course coordination team at
