Hall of Honor Nomination Call
The JISD Athletic and Civic Halls of Honor are now open for nominations. It’s a way of honoring those individuals who have made a positive impact on Judson ISD athletically while they were a student and beyond, or someone who has had a great effect on the district in a civic way that’s made a big difference in the lives of students or the community. Have someone in mind? The link below gives you the guidelines and the electronic forms to submit.
The first day of school is always exciting for just about everyone…teachers, students, and parents. It marks new beginnings and fresh starts that can be stimulating and helpful at many different levels. This year was special also because it was the first day of school…ever, for Escondido Elementary School. It opened its doors to more than 400 students and more are expected to come. Take a look at how the first day went in the video above…it may bring a few memories back for yourself.
Judson Education Foundation e-Give
This is the 8th year for the e-Give campaign. It’s the annual opportunity that JISD employees have to give directly to the Judson Education Foundation. When you give, you also get some great gifts of appreciation for being generous…including the slick t-shirt you see here. The Judson Education Foundation funds student scholarships and teacher grants to enhance and grow the academic tradition of Judson ISD.

LTC Karen Wagner 9/11 Ceremony
It is a solemn occasion and one worth pausing and remembering each year. Many people lost their lives and others gave their lives during that unforgettable day. Among them was LTC Karen J. Wagner who was lost at the Pentagon during the planned attacks. Students from Wagner High School, including those from the ROTC program, participated in the memorial that highlighted her service to our country. Karen Wagner was a 1979 graduate of Judson High School who was a true student leader in academics, athletics and the ROTC program. The ceremony included a brief bio of Wagner and thoughts regarding the impact of her life. Following the remarks, a ceremonial wreath was laid on her grave and the playing of taps.
Mr. Walter Cayce from ExxonMobil Pipeline and Jorge Urby from the Glider Group presented a $1,500 donation to the Judson Education Foundation recently. The companies have been working on a project behind Metzger Middle School in our District. The donation will go towards student scholarships and innovative teacher grants. The Foundation is grateful for businesses like ExxonMobil Pipeline who place value in the education of our students and the continued success of our educators.

Hammer Bowl 2018…A Nail-Biter!
It’s an annual tradition, but this year both Wagner and Judson are in different UIL classifications and districts. That said, it was one whale of a game with Judson pulling it out in the end 35-28, but Wagner made a statement that it intends on making a big impact in district play and beyond. Take a look at all the great photos from the game.
To increase accountability within the district, Judson ISD has a Fraud and Abuse Hotline. This is a way of anonymously reporting incidents of wrongly using district resources. A person can report problems two ways. Through a toll free hotline 855-640-6200 (in English) and 800-216-1288 (in Spanish) or you can just REPORT HERE. A third party company called Lighthouse is handling all the reports for credibility purposes and will look at each report on an individual basis. The online form also allows a person to upload supporting documents if they apply. This “report it” link can also take you to a page where crimes and bullying can be reported.
