Welcome to the many new signers of the Richmond Pledge to End Racism! In addition to a monthly newsletter, we send out occasional emails to call attention to events, articles, calls to action, and other resources (local and national) we think might be helpful to you as you work to end racism in your community and beyond. Today, we share a message about a targeted email list you may wish to join.
Our Living the Pledge (LTP) Influencing Government accountability group invites you to participate in our Action Alert email list to alert you to the need for letter-writing campaigns or other advocacy actions around specific anti-racism issues. The e-mail Action Alert is an opportunity to join with other Pledge signers to amplify our voices in support of anti-racist policies at the Local, State, and National level.
This Action Alert e-mail list will be managed by members of our Living the Pledge (LTP) Influencing Government accountability group. Once on the list, we will let you know, via e-mail, of needed actions around specific issues, who to contact, and other essential action information about the action. You choose whether to engage in that particular action. In addition, if you know of something that requires action, you can let us know and we can amplify that as well through the Action Alert e-mail list.
We will use BCC for the e-mail alerts and not share your address with anyone else. You can expect 1 – 3 e-mail alerts per week so that participants do not become saturated with e-mail messages.
This important Action Alert e-mail initiative is on an opt-in basis. In order to become part of the list, please send your e-mail address to Mary Secret, firstname.lastname@example.org, who is establishing our initial list.
Please join our action effort as soon as possible and email Mary by Friday August 28th at the latest. In particular, we need to make sure our voices are heard during the upcoming Virginia General Assembly special session set to begin today, August 18, which will target state budget issues caused by the coronavirus pandemic, along with criminal justice and policing reform recommendations.
