First, we want to express our excitement at the many new online signers to the Richmond Pledge to End Racism. Welcome! We send out occasional emails to call attention to events, articles, calls to action, and other resources (local and national) we think might be helpful to you as you work to end racism in your community and beyond.
And speaking of events, we have received an invitation from the Islamic Center of Richmond to participate in a Call to End Racism rally to be held this Saturday, June 13, 2020, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. There is a line up of speakers including African American community members, faith groups, activists, and elected officials. The event will include an invitation for folks to take the Pledge to End Racism.
This is an in-person event held outdoors in the parking lot of the Islamic Center of Richmond, 8481 Hungary Rd, Glen Allen (Note: the is not the Islamic Center of Virginia in Bon Air). Everyone will be required to wear masks and social distancing will be maintained.
We hope you might consider attending the rally if it safe for you to do so and inviting others to join you. And for those of you receiving this who aren't in the Richmond Area (we're working to better segment our list), we encourage you to find ways in your community this weekend to show your solidarity in standing up against racism.
Stay safe! Stay strong!
