A New Strategic Plan:  Building Homes and Hope

Our Board of Commissioners has adopted a new strategic plan for Home Forward, charting a path that will guide our work through 2020.  The plan reflects a strong, overarching commitment to do everything we can to help our community address its critical affordable housing needs, both through our major preservation efforts as well as the creation of hundreds of new places to call home.

The plan also reflects our recognition that how we do our work is as important as what we do.  We’ll deepen our efforts around equity, racial justice and trauma-informed practice.  We’ll strengthen partnerships that improve educational outcomes for kids and increase access to health care supports that help people thrive.

Block 45

Home Forward was recently awarded the property at Block 45, on the corner of NE Hassalo and Grand Avenue, through the Portland Housing Bureau’s NOFA competition.  Working with our construction partners O’Neill / Walsh Community BuildersLRS Architects and LEVER Architecture, we’ll create a new, mixed income community with ground floor retail space.  Plans include 247 studio, 1 and 2-bedrooms with a range of affordability, including market rate apartments.  We are thrilled to contribute to the emerging landscape of this bustling corridor and to provide options for residents at every end of the affordability spectrum.

This agency uses housing as a platform of opportunity to help people reach greater goals and economic independence; therefore strengthening the fabric of our community.
