We have some good news to announce: from October 24 through October 28, 2019 we will be opening studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom waiting lists at fifteen of our subsidized housing communities. The subsidies includes both project-based Section 8 and public housing. 

• Project-based Section 8 is a program that helps people with their rent while they live in the apartment. This rent assistance cannot be used in people’s current homes or be used elsewhere.

• Public housing consists of apartment and townhome communities that are owned and managed by Home Forward. Federal funds help us to charge affordable rent that is based on a household’s income. Public housing residents pay 28.5 - 31 percent of their income for rent.

Once the application period has ended, applications for each waiting list will be placed in order, using a random process. The cap for each waiting list will be different because waiting lists move at different speeds depending on the bedroom size and the apartment community.

Some of these lists give preference to households where the head of household, co-head, or spouse is 55 or older or a person living with a disability. At Hollywood East, Northwest Tower, Schrunk Riverview Tower, and Williams Plaza the head of household, co-head, or spouse MUST be 55 or older or a person living with a disability.

Staff at partner agencies can fill out the online application on behalf of clients.

Home Forward does not limit the number of waiting lists applicants can apply for. Applicants can apply for all waiting lists they qualify for regardless if they have applied during previous openings.
