VLN Primary School

Kia ora koutou

Thanks for reading our VLN Primary School newsletters. Our goal is to:
Connect Schools for Enhanced Learning Outcomes.
We harness the collaborative and collective power of schools to provide the best of learning opportunities to all our students across our schools. This requires school communities to think beyond their own classroom walls and schools gates to work together to develop a system that fits the needs of the learner, instead of the other way around. We try to 'be the change we want to see in the world' by rolling up our sleeves and 'doing it' with our students, our teachers, our schools & their communities. Virtual learning may be the vehicle, but it is not the end point.

In this newsletter we update you on student projects and our latest activities, give you a heads up on whats coming up and invite you to participate, and welcome our new team members.
My Story, Your Story, Our Story -  so much more than a Photography Project. There has been some great connections being made between the schools involved in this project. Check out these messages of support for the Black Caps from students in Pakistan; and these students from Singapore learning a waiata to welcome their visitors. The creative part of this project is now starting to wrap up and we are really looking forward to viewing the schools work, which are currently under wraps in WeLearn. Theressa from Ahuroa School, hats off to you for all your hard work in keeping up with all the schools, managing their photos, chasing up permissions and just bringing everything together. In true blended learning style the best of these photos are being printed and exhibited and be showing at the Estuary Arts Centre in Orewa during the 4 - 28th of June 2015. Opening night (6th June) will be videoed and shared via YouTube, to ensure all involved schools can be fully involved.

Over the Back Fence is rolling along with weekly connections between classrooms in New Zealand and overseas. There is room for other classrooms to join the weekly Skyped 5-10 minute health and safety lessons delivered by the Y12 students at Rosmini College, Auckland.  Available time slots are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 10:05 and 10:45. If interested to connect your classroom please contact Geoff Wood at
