The award for Project of the Year has been won by the State Water Corporation of New South Wales for the‘Burrendong Dam Temperature Control Curtain’ project. The project manager was Guresh Ahuja.

This award is presented to recognise a successfully completed project with superior performance through the application of outstanding project management principles and has made an important contribution within its respective industry.

Guresh’s project implemented the world’s first temperature control curtain, the purpose being to reduce the effects of cold water pollution and improve the Macquarie River ecosystem. As well as successfully pioneering ground-breaking new technology, the project excelled in its broad stakeholder engagement and communication approach which is already having a lasting and positive effect within the community.

Distinguished Contribution (sponsored by Mindavation)

For 2014, PMI recognises Peter O’Driscoll, an independent consultant from New South Wales, for his outstanding contribution to the project management profession.

The fact that Peter received more than one nomination for this award is testimony to the significant and lasting impact he has had on the growth and operation of the PMI Sydney chapter, through fulfilling multiple different roles over a number of years. In addition, he has volunteered and contributed to the Community Coaching Program, and also more recently to global initiatives within the PMI.
