COVID-19 Mobile Hotline in the Barkly


Following the rising number of Coronavirus cases in the Barkly, the Barkly Regional Council have set up an information text service to get up-to-date mandates and information to Barkly residents in a timely and efficient manner, in an effort to curb the spread of the virus in the community. 

The text info line is being set up in addition to our social media platforms and media releases, and council encourages people to share this with friends and family who may not have access to online resources.

Mayor Jeffrey McLaughlin observed of the current communications in the region "Communication is really important. Its great that the council is pushing this system so we can remain on the front foot of the virus" Also it is important to get vaccinated as soon as possible to protect one another".

Acting CEO Santosh Niraula agreed "Timely and accurate information is crucial to stopping the spread of the virus in our community. Council is taking a proactive stance on communication to ensure our residents are safe and have true and fast information to make the best decisions for themselves and their loved ones at this crucial time"
