Ovarian Cancer Australia’s Symposium was held in Sydney on 10 December 2016. The Symposium featured 12 guest speakers and was well attended by 64 representatives from the gynaecological medical community. The symposium enabled leading international and Australian researchers, clinicians and experts to come together to address and share the latest developments and advances in ovarian cancer research, treatment, genetics and screening.
International keynote speaker Professor Jonathan Ledermann, whose presentation on “PARP inhibitors: a quantum leap in therapy for ovarian cancer”, said the event “fostered a spirit of collaboration that will assist in achieving better outcomes for women living with the disease”.
“The medical community’s understanding of ovarian cancer has changed radically in the past few years,” said Professor David Bowtell from the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. “The Ovarian Cancer Symposium provided a concise update of ‘need to know’ information about this impactful disease.”
