HOLIDAY (2016Newsletter!

Sending this month's newsletter out 6 days early because if I don't, it might get lost in my holiday bustle-hustle.

Although I didn't meet my NaNoWriMo goal last month, I did make some progress on Waterwight: Flux, Book II of the Waterwight Series and it will be WAY cool! You'll definitely want to read Book I before this next one comes out, and please let me know if you'd like to be a beta reader for Book II before I publish it! (basically, beta readers can offer final feedback before publication and can also provide a "praise for Waterwight" blurb for the front pages of the book!)

In anticipation of holiday insanity, this newsletter will be briefer than usual. And if you're planning to get a dog as a gift for someone you love, please read my warning first: Don't Get a Dog!

Also, if you read my Hunting 3.0 post last month, you know I was unsuccessful filling my elk cow tag. I did, however, harvest my first roadkill. It was an experience I'll never forget. I tried to capture some of the beauty of it in my Harvesting Roadkill post. Let me know what you think, even if your response is, "Eeeewwww!"

UPCOMING EVENTS!

We all need a break this month (well, I do!), so enjoy your friends and family and give yourselves some time to unwind! I'll post events in next month's letter, but you can always check out --

SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL LIBRARIES!
Be a "Friend"! Please. They do so very much for their local authors!

Exciting news about other authors/bloggers! Check them out! (and if you have news about your work you'd like to share, let me know).
The holidays approach, and books make great gifts! Support readers AND authors this year!

Jennifer Sweete's The Poet & The Widow,  is a heart-achingly poignant and deeply personal memoir interwoven with poetry. Each chapter reveals a little more about a most unusual relationship. Truly beautiful.

Duane Ziegler (I met him at the Eagle Valley Library District Author Expo on December 1st)) has a children's book JimJim and the Jellybean Journey, beautifully illustrated by Vary Reichardt! Order today for the young'uns in your life!

Ann Parker has a Wild West series and she's still writing! Order the whole Silver Rush Mystery Series for the perfect gift!

Sherry Ficklin's Gilded Cage already has me hooked! Check out all of Sherry's books and order one (or lots) as gifts!

Carol Bellhouse also has quite a variety of works and genres available--from poetry to novels to love stories--and for a wide audience!

My Hai CLASS ku is only $5.75! Get several for the students and teachers you know and encourage them to enter my 2017 contest! I've already been to classrooms and students have been totally engaged in this activity. Suggest to teachers that I'd love to visit their classrooms too! Still working on Waterwight: Flux, Book II of the Waterwight Series, so if you haven't read Book I yet . . .

 90 days of entertainment.
Here's my Press Release about the Haiku project.

And now, your prompts for the next 30ish days:

1. Rewrite the poem Twas The Night Before Christmas.

Personalize it to reflect your own Christmas past! Here's my version of the poem written right after Christmas 2011 and posted on our eldest son's Epiphany birthday! Still makes me laugh.

2. No "#2" this month. I'd love for you to share your poems with me when/if you tackle #1!

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas, a Happy Hanukkah, and a Happy New Year!

If you enjoy a book, please write a good review on Amazon and/or Goodreads! Good reviews are (almost) as good as $$$$$ for up-and-coming authors, especially for indie authors!

Please do NOT say that you're the best friend of or are related to the person whose work you review. (This can adversely affect the credibility of your rating and the author). THANK YOU!

TIPS

I'm going to repeat last month's tips in the hopes that I'll convince you to . . .

1. Order your holiday gift books now!

2. Check out authors I've highlighted in my newsletters and encourage them to keep writing!

3. Encourage them by ordering their books . . .

4. And by telling the world why you like their books (by writing a quickie review)!

THANK YOU!
