Hi all...I apologize for filling up your mailbox, I promise this should be the last posting until January!
A little more than a week ago we announced a change in the annual library Giving Tree. With the library closed for in person/in building connections we decided to simply print off the list of books the library would like to have purchased and gifted to them, and have that list at the Homer Bookstore.
With the recent rise in the number of Covid cases in our town, the decision was made to move away from having an actual list of titles and encouraging people to stop by the bookstore to now asking people who wish to give a gift to the library AND support our local bookstore, to please simply purchase a Homer Bookstore gift certificate in any amount you choose. Instead of increasing foot traffic into the store...we would ask you to call or go online.
This can be done by simply calling the bookstore during regular business hours (Monday through Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) 235-7496 or going directly to the Homer Bookstore webpage https://www.homerbookstore.com/.
I tried the webpage option yesterday and it was as easy as pie. You simply fill out the boxes and indicate in the "TO" box that your gift is for the Homer Library. The bookstore staff will take care of the rest.
I realize it is much more fun to pick out a book that you feel connected to, and we certainly hope we can return to that model next year. However, for the safety of our community we feel this is the safest option for now.
