Dear Friends of the Homer Library,

I regret to inform you that Celebration of Lifelong Learning has been postponed until further notice. With the first official case of Covid-19 in Alaska, we feel that it is prudent to limit the potential for spread within our small community.

We would like to invite you to listen to an on-air Celebration of Lifelong Learning on KBBI AM 890, Wednesday, March 18, 9:00 am. Help us honor Lifelong Learner Janet Klein, Youth Learner Anthony Melkomukov, and Dana Stabenow the recipient of the Sue Gibson Community Achievement Award. We’ll have trivia tree questions by Janet Klein, music, award presentations, and good cheer.

If you purchased tickets, you may request a refund or elect to direct the cost of your ticket(s) to the Summer Reading and Learning program.

Celebration of Lifelong Learning is an important fundraiser for the Friends of the Homer Library. If you would like to make a donation, please visit our website:  We are also currently selling paper flowers through a Facebook fundraiser; they are $25 each, which represents the price of one youth participating in the Summer Reading and Learning Program. With lots of library events including Storytimes, STEAM programs, the Reading Challenge and more, Summer@HPL keeps the minds of youth engaged over the summer months. You can find the fundraiser here:

Thank you for all of your support.

Take care,

Mercedes Harness
FHL Coordinator
