Supporting Iyengar yoga in the UK and Ireland

Could you be our next national representative?

You may know that the national Iyengar yoga association, Iyengar Yoga (UK), is made up of members who either join individually or through Member Groups such as MDIY.
IY(UK) oversees the infrastructure and development of Iyengar yoga across the UK and Ireland, including the training and assessing of new teachers; ongoing certification and insurance of teachers; marketing and publicity; maintaining archives and promoting research; and planning and running the annual convention.
Its decision-making committee, the Executive Committee (or "EX"), is made up of representatives from Member Groups and Individual Members.  As the largest Member Group in the UK and Ireland, MDIY sends two Representatives to the national committee.

Vacancy for a new Representative.

Sadly one of our current representatives, Lauren Currie, has decided to stand down - we'd like to thank her for her contribution during her years as an MDIY rep.

This does mean we have an opportunity for another member to join the EX; this involves:

  • Attending three meetings a year (Saturday or Sunday, travel expenses paid).
  • Representing the interests of MDIY on the national committee.
  • Influencing decisions about the future of Iyengar yoga in the UK and Ireland.

If you are interested in meeting "yoga people" from across the country, finding out how the national association works, helping to decide how to develop and grow Iyengar yoga, this is your chance! Please talk to or email Lauren or Charlotte, our second Representative, to find out more, if you might be interested.
