You'll probably never grow tired of hearing this, so we'll say it again: congratulations on getting into Barnard! 

Now you have to ask yourself a pretty big question: Is Barnard the place for you? Sure, the college can tell you a bunch of stuff about the history of the school, list all the possible majors, etc., but what is it really like to be a student here?

Or maybe you applied ED, or are completely certain that you'll be coming to Morningside Heights in the fall. Regardless of your level of certainty, Required Reading can help you out. For those still weighing their options, we'll tell you everything you need to know about Barnard and Columbia that might inform your decision. For those who have already committed, we'll make sure you're a pro in all things BC/CU by the end of NSOP.

We'll be publishing content every day on our brand new website, but make sure you're also checking your email for this newsletter. We'll be organizing all of our content into themes based on what we think will be most timely, so in the first edition of this year's Required Reading, we want to fuel your excitement about coming to Barnard. In the headlines

Wait, how many people were admitted? Did you guys know that your class is the most selective Barnard's ever seen? Yep, just a mere 14.8 percent were admitted to the class of 2021.

Getting the ball rolling: For the past couple of months, Barnard's contingent faculty union has been trying to negotiate with the administration for better pay, benefits, and job security. Now a first contract has finally been ratified.
