Outdoor Vancouver Newsletter. Edition #2

March 22, 2013

As of March 20th we are officially into spring. I could really tell this morning when I awoke to snow falling in North Burnaby. I've at least been enjoying the extra hour of daylight after work for getting my runs in. Now if only we could get the sun to come out for more than a few hours.

New Interview Series Coming

This is something of thought about doing for years with the site. An interview series of local athletes (of all skill levels) who are out there doing awesome things. I was finally motivated to put the idea to action after recently attending VIMFF and also after watching this video my friend Jeff made on a local triathlete. I want to share inspiring stories of people who are getting outside, training hard, and/or undertaking big adventures. Stories of elite athletes and weekend warriors - from runners, cyclists, triathletes, mountaineers and all sorts of outdoor pursuits.

I already have my first interviewee lined-up and its someone with a great, inspirational story I'm excited to share. It should hopefully be up sometime in April.

I can use your help though. I need a good name for the series. Since the series will focus on people who are out there crushing it I thought something like 'Crushing It Vancouver: One-on-one with Person XYZ'. But then I thought 'Crushing it Vancouver' sounded too much like an online dating website or something. So, I'm basically terrible at this and want your suggestions. If you have any ideas, please hit reply on this email and let me know!

Revolution Movie Premier Contest

There is currently a contest running on the website to win a pair of tickets to the Vancouver advance screening of Revolution. "Revolution is a film about changing the world. The true-life adventure of Rob Stewart, this follow-up to his acclaimed Sharkwater documentary continues his remarkable journey; one that will take him through 15 countries over four years, and where he’ll discover that it’s not only sharks that are in grave danger – it’s humanity itself".

The movie premiers nation-wide on April 12, but you can win tickets to the Vancouver advance screening which takes place at 7pm on Monday, March 25th at International Village Cinemas. Click here to watch the trailer and enter the contest. Due to the short notice before the event, the contest is closing tomorrow at midnight so don't wait to enter.

Until next month!
