Funding opportunity from the Virtual Museum of Canada
The Virtual Museum of Canada has opened up applications to their Virtual Exhibits funding program, where heritage organizations can apply for up to $250,000 to do digital history projects.
Institutions can “develop online products that engage audiences of all ages, interests and abilities” – “a new virtual exhibit, virtual tour, interactive resource or educational resource on the subject of their choice.” Projects should be “a dynamic exploration of Canada’s diverse history, heritage or culture in ways that appeal to a broad spectrum of Canadians.”
Funding will cover every step of exhibit development: research, identification of relevant media, digitization of that media, copyright and permissions, writing and editing texts, promotion, and hosting. This is a great opportunity to digitize and present that small collection you wish could reach a wider audience!
We'd love to be part of your virtual exhibit solution. Our VITA Digital Toolkit comes with an Exhibits module that's flexible and customizable, and it's bilingual too! Send us a message if you'd like a tour of the tool or have questions about how we can work together.
