What You Need to Know
See something unexpected? Clear your cache
Sometimes browsers will cache old styling so do a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R) or clear your browser cache in the history settings.
Check your Contribute module links
If you have a contribute link somewhere outside of your VITA site, you should adjust it to exclude the /contribute/upload extension (or see the Contribute screen in DM and copy the new URL to paste wherever you have links).
Keep original Contributed Image files?
The default setting for this option is Yes. If you do not wish to store the original uploaded file from a Contribution, go to Agency Management>Image Options>Contributed images and change the setting to "No" - this option only applies to image files, others are automatically kept to be served back to the public.
Want to add indexing to Non-Newspaper Volumes?
If you're working with non-Newspaper items like cemetery registers or church records full of vital statistics, you can change the volume record to Media Type "Publication" and add it to your Publication/Volume checklist (Agency Management>Checklists) for the Add BMD screen.
Jigsaw Puzzle option
The interactive jigsaw puzzle option will display as a link in the right panel for any item with a full JPG - not JPG2000 - image associated. Users can choose difficulty levels and other settings to recreate the image with jigsaw pieces. Choose to turn this on or off in Site Management>Details>Right side panel.
Turn on/off OAI-PMH
To enable metadata harvesting of your collection, turn the OAI-PMH option on or off and set up your profile in Agency Management>Export Options. You will need a short collection description to enable this option. For more details, contact us at help@vitatoolkit.ca.
Custom CSS
If you have a custom CSS applied to your site, walk through the public site to ensure everything is displaying as it should. If not, 1) clear your cache - sometimes browsers will cache old styling so do a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R) or clear your browser cache in the history settings. If that does not change the screen then: 2) please email us with the page URL and a description of what you *expect* to see.
