Welcome to Jon Turino ConnectionsTM
Volume 1, Number 4  June 5, 2012

And the content grows!

Thanks for reading this fourth issue of ConnectionsTM  newsletter.  I am truly gratified by the number of people who've made the time to tell me that they really like it and I will try to continue to provide you with interesting, useful and occasionally entertaining content in each issue.

If you do a newsletter of your own you are well aware of the challenges involved in providing your readers with fresh and relevant contenton a regular basis. If you don't do a newsletter, it might be a part of the overall marketing mix you should consider. Or consider a blog, rather than a formal newsletter like this one. You can still get your most critical information out to people interested in your particular business without the commitment

There are lots of online and offline marketing tactics you can use to grow your business once you've developed your overall marketing strategy.

Speaking of marketing strategies, there are a couple of new presentations on the new Presentations page of the website. You can find both the Helping Businesses Grow Through Better Marketing Strategies presentation and the Marketing Plan Game version with 25 answers and questions in a Jeopardy style format.  I hope you find them both informative and fun. A link to the small Consulting Services Overview brochure is also there.

As with the each issue, near the top you'll find this issue's networking tip and a partial list of networking events from my website Calendar page in which you might want to participate.  Toward the middle you'll find a social media tip, a Featured Affiliate spotlight and some interesting statistics in the "Did You Know..." section.  Near the bottom you'll find articles and groups of interest and a partial list of the latest updates on the website Resources page.

All of the content contains live links to the source information so that you can get to it quickly and easily.

We'll say again what we say each issue:  Your feedback on this newsletter is very important to us.  Do we have the right topics?  The right content?  The right amount of information?  The right format?  What can we do better?  What's missing?  What don't you want?  Would paid ads or sponsored links be OK or not?  Please let us know via our website Contact page.

Thank you so much for reading and we'd really appreciate it if you'd confirm your desire to continue receiving this newsletter and other occasional emails from us by subscribing.  Also please share this newsletter with your friends

And if you want some help in growing your business, remember that Jon is a top notch marketing strategist, a power networker and a free information and referral resource here in Portland.  Give him a call or a message to get started on the marketing strategy work you need.  He's open for business with a great introductory package for you.

Month's Networking Tips

Here's another article from our sources at Social Media Examiner. It talks about the 10 LinkedIn Tips for Building Your Business.

The Start-Up of You, a recent book co-authored by LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman, notes that companies don’t give you business – people do. In the book, Mr. Hoffman also states a key point about business networking:  “It’s better to be the best connected than the most connected.”

Many of your LinkedIn connections can introduce you not only to business influencers and partners, but also refer your company to new customers.

This Social Media Examiner article entitled 5 Ways to Develop Meaninful LinkedIn Connections will help you accomplish that.

A personal LinkedIn profile is commonly viewed as an online resume or digital business card, and using it for that is a good start.

Like your online social media, your face-to-face networking will only be effective if you do it consistently. Initially pick only two or three groups of your target audience to visit and concentrate on going regularly. You can find relevant groups on the Calendar and Resources pages.

This Month's Featured Affiliate

In each issue we spotlight someone in our network who has done an outstanding job for a client and may be able to help you as well.

In this issue we spotlight Allen Wagner, the guy who runs Columbia SEO Consulting. While describing himself only a SEO expert, Al also did a great job of spiffing up many of the graphics on the  Jon Turino Marketing + Connections home page and providing them with attributes that improve their searchability with Google and the other search engines. Al likes to stay off the radar with the search engine folks but he really knows his stuff.

We welcome your nominations for an Affiliate to feature each month.  You can send the nominations using the website Contact form. Also check Jon Turino's new Affiliates page if you need marketing strategy implementation help.
