As the Holiday Season officially begins in just a little over a week, I want to wish you health, warmth, peace, happiness and prosperity. And to say a sincere "Thank You," <<First Name>>, for your support of me, my activities and those of my friends and colleagues who you may also have had occasion to do business with. We wouldn't continue to be here without you and for that I say again "Thank You" from the bottom of my heart.

Things can get pretty hectic and a little crazy this time of year. Many events to attend, many family gatherings to organize, travel to/from and otherwise participate in. Decorations to put up and gifts to buy. So it can get a little stressful. If you feel stressed, try to take a few moments to stop everything and just take some deep breaths. You'll be amazed at how much relaxation this simple technique will provide.

For those of you, my valued readers, who are in the retail business, I hope your seasonal sales explode now that the election is over and we should begin to experience at least some economic predictability for the next few years.

For my service provider friends in the insurance, financial services, real estate and mortgage markets, to name a few, this is probably a quieter time of year for you in terms of business activity so take this time to prepare your plans for 2013. 

For our B2B folks like myself, let's continue to make sure we support our clients and customers, whatever their needs, as best we can. Because the relationships we're building now will pay off big time in the future if we are truly helpful to each other.

Speaking of help, if you can use some help this season, please contact me as soon as you can. If I can't help you directly, I'll be happy to point you to one or more people who can. And please do have a joyous Thanksgiving.

This Issue's Networking Tips

We found some really good posts about networking over the past few weeks. Here's a smattering of them.

Author Kathryn Minshew, in a blog post in HBR Blog Network, says that the best networking suggestion she can offer is: Always say yes to invitations, even if it's not clear what you'll get out of the meeting. She says "I'm not arguing for long, pointless, unstructured conversations with everyone you meet. But many of my most fruitful relationships have resulted from a meeting or call in which I was not entirely sure what would or would not come of the conversation."

She goes on to say "Hand in hand with this philosophy comes another, highly complementary strategy: When you want something, broadcast that to everyone you meet. When talking about your desires for your business, be honest. A little candor, a little vulnerability, goes a long way in turning a conversation from trite to meaningful." You can read Kathryn's whole article here.

Scott Ginsberg, writing in Evolution Magazine, has a short post about networking tips. He suggests:

1. Avoid starting your responses or conversations with hedging phrases and immediate personal discounters.
2. Take yourself on a date ALONE. Go to a fun place.
3. Use self-disclosure openings as conversation starters.
4. Avoid the word ‘interested.

Filling out this issue's list of networking tips is one from Lewis Howes in Entrepreneur. He says the ability to network successfully can be one of the greatest assets in business. It allows some people to find incredible opportunities, while others just watch from the sidelines. He also points out that effective networking isn't a result of luck -- it requires hard work and persistence. What does it take to be a super networker? Here are 7 Key Habits of Super Networkers.
Like your online social media, your face-to-face networking will only be effective if you do it consistently. Initially pick only two or three groups of your target audience to visit and concentrate on going regularly. You can find relevant groups on the Calendar and Resources pages.Have a tip to share? This Issue's Social Media Tips

The topic of content is all the rage now when it comes to social media (and blog posts for that matter). There are way more articles than we can list in this newsletter so I've been posting them to my Facebook and LinkedIn pages on an almost daily basis via a tool called as I find them. Here, however, are some worth repeating if you haven't already seen them.

SocialBakers reports that approximately every 7.7th person on Earth has a Facebook account. Presuming that  you are a regular user, you are most llikely familiar with most of its functions, such as updating your status, uploading photos and adding/deleting friends. However, Facebook allows many things – surprisingly not so common among people – that can significantly enhance your social networking. There is a very useful list of many of them in the post entitled Top 15 Facebook Tips & Tricks to Enhance Your Social Networking.

Caroline Temple's post in talks about a bunch of ways you can use social media to drive traffic to your blog or website. In this article, which is the 2nd article in a 5-part "get traffic" series, she talks about specific hints for Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Google+ and LinkedIn. She also has links to the earlier article in the series.

3. In 2007, was given an estimated value of $15 billion dollars!
4. It’s well-known, counterfeit money exists and is in circulation in the U.S. The United States Government estimates less
than .0001% of all money in circulation is counterfeit.
5. All bills except for the $1 and $2 dollar bill have significant security features that have helped eliminate counterfeit money.
